Life ain't easy

We look at USA’s record of supporting oppressive and dictatorial governments and are often disappointed with the choices Uncle Sam has made.  We observe instances where we have been on the side of evil individuals and groups.  We then conclude how terrible we are for imposing bad conditions on other nations.  The problem with this line of thinking is the assumption that we are allowed to choose between clear-cut good and evil.  In truth, the choice is not often so easy.  Sure the government in Iran was corrupt; but how oppressive and corrupt has the replacement proven to be?  The same is true in the current situation in Egypt.  In the end, we must choose what is ultimately best for ourselves while having some regard for the fair treatment of others.  The choice is not between good and evil but rather between evil and less evil.
